Program Mission Statement:

To expand awareness, accessibility and advanced competency in the areas of vision therapy and rehabilitation in a private practice setting. To offer proficiency in the areas of behavioral and pediatric optometric care; vision enhancement and sports vision; with patient encounters including contact lens, ocular disease and integrative optometric care through a residency program.


Program Description:

Our residency program seeks individuals interested in advanced competency in the areas of vision therapy and rehabilitation with the goal of expanding awareness and accessibility of such care in a private practice setting. Our residents will become proficient in the areas of behavioral and pediatric optometric care; vision enhancement and sports vision; and gain experience with patients of all ages including contact lens, ocular disease and integrative optometric care encounters.

Program Starting Date: July 1st
Typical Weekly Hours and After-Hours Responsibilities:

40 Hours per week



On-call: Once monthly on-call


Requirements for Completion:

* Fulfillment of the academic obligation/didactic component

* Present a minor (20 minute) and a major (50 minute) presentation

* Publishable quality paper

* Maintenance and completion of supervisor evaluation, patient logs, etc.

* Meeting professional and clinical responsibilities

* Fulfillment of terms of employment

* Any program specific requirements, attendance, and satisfactory clinical and professional achievements

Selection Procedure and Admission Criteria:

OD degree from an accredited school of optometry. Successful completion of all parts of the National Board of Examiners in Optometry is preferred prior to the application deadline.  CT State Licensure obtained prior to or by July 1 program start date
