Program Mission Statement:

Insight Vision Group’s Ocular Disease/Refractive and Ocular Surgery Residency Programs mission is to provide optometric graduates an inviting clinical environment to foster new educational and professional growth to better serve our patients and greater optometric community. 



At Insight Vision Group, we are passionate about patient care and dedicated to improving quality of life through life-changing vision procedures and treatments.   We strive to provide our resident with advanced training alongside our respected and highly educated optometry and ophthalmology colleagues in the fields of cornea, glaucoma, cataract, retina, oculo-plastics, and refractive surgery.   We use our high volume clinics and surgical center to immerse our resident in direct patient care to promote and teach advanced skills necessary to provide secondary and tertiary care with the highest level of diagnostic, disease management, and interprofessional communication.   Ultimately, the higher level of training and scholarly development with allow the resident to provide great patient care and improved clinic outcomes. 


Program Description:

This residency will be focused on anterior segment ocular disease including cornea, glaucoma, pre/post-operative care, external disease, refractive surgery along with rotations through retina and oculoplastics. The resident will work alongside and in conjunction with InSight Vision Groups medical optometrists and fellowship trained ophthalmologists. 


Program Length: 53-56 weeks

Typical Weekly Hours and After-Hours Responsibilities:

The typical week on average with consist on 4.5 days in clinic and .5 days per week for education/self-guided research.  



40+ hours per week with on-call requirements every other week (1 week intervals)


Requirements for Completion:

  1. Complete all clinical rotations

  2. Attend all in person or virtual IVG continuing education presentations

  3. Produce a “publishable” case report

  4. Present a case report presentation of their choosing at an IVG in person or virtual conference or to IVG doctors

  5. Present case report at ICO Grand Rounds

  6. Complete a final residency review of the program 


Program Salary/Stipend: $45,000 per year, not contingent on productivity

Selection Procedure and Admission Criteria:

Candidates must graduate from an accredited school or college of optometry prior to matriculation and must be eligible for licensure in Colorado. The resident will be selected from among candidates of whom if hired, can present evidence of legal right to live and work in the United States.  All applicants will be evaluated without regard to sex, race, color, creed, age, national origin, religion, or non-disqualifying physical disabilities.
